Illustration in film

September 17th, 2009

Went to see ‘500 days of summer’ a couple of days ago, a kindof indie-romance film. Really liked the film-work, but also the illustrated graphics. Couldn’t get an image of them, but there are recurring line-drawings as time skips backward and forward throughout the film.

I also then thought of the graphics for ‘Juno’. Whether or not you like/have seen the film the titles are really well done. A mix of video and hand-drawn illustration. They are done by ‘shadowplay‘ who have done some other graphics too. Really like the titles – but maybe because of the music too – if it had been a still from it I might not have given it a second thought, but music seems to add more life to illustration I think…

Yeah 500 days of Summer was really quirky (and I don’t mean the story) the architectural line drawings incorporated into film etc just brought the film to another level!
